I’ll be in New Orleans for Mardi Gras! Beads, beignets, and beers (“Huge Ass Beers To Go,” rather)… bring it!
**This shall be my first Mardi Gras experience, so I’m extremely excited.**
Since I don’t really know what to expect, packing is going to be an arduous task. I want to dress festively, but I know I’ll be fighting my way through inebriated crowds, and trudging along “party gravy” coated streets. Conundrum. I’ve got footwear covered– Hunter wellies baby—the rest, not so much…
Re: today’s outfit, consider it a Mardi Gras homage. I purposely accented my noir look with small doses of gold, green, and purple.
Blazer: thrifted, Shirt (similar) & Pants: Banana Republic, Belt: J.Crew, Necklace: Ellison Sage, Beanie: unknown, Shoes: Old Navy, Glasses: Sama
I love your pants! What’s the trick to finding pleated pants that don’t make people with actual hips look even more hip-y??
Trial and error (more like trying on, and trying on). You’ll know them when you find them. Trust me. I got lucky with these. The back is elastic, and the pockets are really slim which, creates less bulk. I try to stay away from heavier fabrications like twill. The lighter the better. Also, try going up a size. I do this with shorts as well. Happy hunting! xx
I just love this outfit! And I’m slightly jealous, ok, really jealous, that you’re going to Mardi Gras. I’ve never been but always wanted to. Also, I just discovered your blog, on refinery 29 and I’m already in love. Your outfits are so fresh and unique. Just started following on blog lovin’ and I can’t wait for more outfit posts, especially from Mardi Gras. Come say hi and follow if ya like. XO

Thank you! I need to check my comments more often. Lol. I’ve wanted to Mardi Gras it for as long as I can remember, so this is quite a treat. I actually get to go to one of the infamous balls! Since my two favorite photographers (dad & bro’s fiance) will be with, I’ll have LOTS of pix to post… Can’t wait to check out your blog.
xx
The color of that beanie is beyond incredible.
